Nominations and Elections Chair

The purpose of the Nominations and Elections Committee is to present nominees for elected professional offices (President/State Director Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, and State Student Leader) to the membership and conduct the election at the IRSA State Workshop during the appropriate years for each respective position.

​Primary responsibilities are as follows:

• Secure written permission from the nominee to place their name in nomination.
• Present at least two nominees for each office at the State Workshop.
• Coordinate with the IRSA Vice President to include the nominations and descriptions for reach respective position in the newsletter sent prior to the State Workshop
• Be responsible for compiling picture and vitae sheet for each candidate and submit candidate summaries for the IRSA website which immediately precede the election.
• Be responsible for informing all candidates for office that they will be asked to give no more than a five-minute presentation at the IRSA State Workshop.
• Distribute, collect and count the ballots for the annual election.
• Develop suggestions and recommendations regarding the processes that IRSA might use to encourage more members to seek leadership positions within IRSA.
• Develop guidelines that will continue to consider the recruitment and development of women and minority candidates.
• Submit recommendations to the President/State Director annually.

Nominations and Elections Chair should:

• Be a professional member of NIRSA and IRSA in good standing
• Be available to attend the IRSA State Workshop or delegate accordingly to ensure no lapse of responsibilities
• Have previous experience in coordinating large sums of data and accurate record keeping
• Demonstrate exceptional organizational and leadership skills
