IRSA Bylaws, Operating, & Historian Committee
It is the responsibility of this committee to review the Bylaws for the purpose of considering any additions and/or revisions which may be deemed necessary and advisable by the board. The committee is charged with preparing and revising the Bylaws which shall provide the Organization members with a detailed guideline for the accomplishment of their responsibilities, proper protocol, suggested methods and standard operating procedures. It is also a secondary duty to maintain, track, and honor the history of IRSA.

The IRSA Historian is responsible for coordinating, organizing, and reporting on the collective memory of IRSA.

Primary responsibilities are as follows:
- Coordinate with the Bylaws and Operating Committee the review of bylaws update proposals by membership and Executive Committee
- Propose bylaws updates and revisions at IRSA State Workshops as deemed necessary
- Coordinate with IRSA Vice President to send out proposed bylaws updates in the newsletter prior to the annual IRSA State Workshop
- Present an update to the Membership at the IRSA State Workshop as necessary
- Delegate responsibilities among Bylaws and Operating Committee members
- Attend and participate in quarterly IRSA Committee Chair conference calls
IRSA Bylaws, Operating, and Historian Chair should:
- Be a professional member of NIRSA and IRSA in good standing
- Be available to attend the IRSA State Workshop or delegate accordingly to ensure no lapse of responsibilities
- Have previous experience in coordinating large sums of data and accurate record keeping
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational and leadership skills
The IRSA Historian is responsible for coordinating, organizing, and reporting on the collective memory of IRSA.
Primary responsibilities are as follows:
- Maintain accurate historical files of the association on the state google documents account.
- Keep material produced by the association throughout the year. For example, workshop brochures and publicity flyers.
- Document chapter achievements through the year. For example, awards won and retirement announcements.
- Every quarter, update the downloadable online association history and coordinate with the IRSA Marketing and Technology Committee Chair to make sure it is posted on the website.
- Coordinate with IRSA Vice President to provide historical information to members at the state workshop and NIRSA as needed. For example, the association has won all the newsletter awards over the years.
- Periodically, coordinate with the IRSA Vice President by writing articles for the newsletter about the association's history.
- Take, collect, and post pictures of association meetings, workshops, and NIRSA events.
- Attend and participate in quarterly IRSA Committee Chair conference calls
- Attend IRSA State workshop, Lead On, and NIRSA conference, if possible. If you cannot attend, submit a report to the President beforehand on your committees’ activities and who is going to coordinate your responsibilities at the event.
